Icelandic sheep are born in the wild and roam freely through the rugged Icelandic landscape. The texture of their wool is the result of centuries of adaptation to the harsh Icelandic climate. Icelandic sheep have a short undercoat, and above it hang wild, long curls. The long hairs protect the sheep's skin from moisture, while the short undercoat simultaneously keeps the animal warm. The wool is between 15 and 25 cm long, and its slight roughness gives the fur a particularly beautiful appearance.
