Icelandic sheep roam freely throughout the Icelandic landscape their entire lives. As a result, their wool has adapted to the harsh Icelandic climate over centuries. The long hairs protect the sheep from the wild nature, while the short undercoat keeps the animal warm. The wool is between 15 and 25 cm long, and its slight roughness gives the fur a unique appearance.
